On Saturday, May 10th, Kinderdijk will be fully dedicated to traditional crafts. This is your chance to see history come to life and experience firsthand how ancient crafts and techniques are still being used today. Enjoy a relaxing boat tour with Koninklijke Spido and discover the unique atmosphere of this World Heritage site.

A journey back in time

During the boat trip with Koninklijke Spido, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of the surroundings and experience the peace and beauty of the Dutch waterways. Once you arrive in Kinderdijk, you’ll be immersed in the world of craftsmanship and tradition.

What to expect in Kinderdijk?

Museum Windmill Nederwaard: Admire the art of fishing in the salmon pool, see how eel is smoked, and taste delicious ham and burgers prepared with a smoking machine. Meet the miller, who will tell you all about his craft and the techniques he uses to operate the windmill.
Museum Windmill Blokweer: A treat for the kids! Learn how to fold little windmills, play shuffleboard, and split ropes (in dry weather). Taste freshly baked pancakes and join in an exciting treasure hunt. Here, a miller will also enthusiastically share stories about the craftsmanship and maintenance of the windmills.
Wisboom Pumping Station: Admire the old blacksmith shop and the impressive engine room. A blacksmith will demonstrate his craft and show how glowing metal comes to life. At the same time, you can discover how the engine room works, with the rotating flywheels as the highlight.

A complete day out

On the way back to Rotterdam, a lunch buffet will be served. The combination of a relaxing Spido boat tour and the activities in Kinderdijk makes this a day full of culture, craftsmanship, and fun for all ages.
