Route:*
During the first part of the trip we sail downstream on the river Nieuwe Maas towards the Botlek area, the well-known port and industrial area of Rotterdam.
We then sail over the river, the Oude Maas, past places such as Spijkenisse and Hoogvliet and we turn into the Spui at the Rhoonse Grienden nature reserve, where you will soon see the landscape change.
Enjoy the Dutch landscape of the islands, Hoekse Waard and Voorne-Putten, with the picturesque towns of Oud-Beijerland and Goudswaard.
At the end of the Spui the waterway widens and we reach the Haringvliet, with the old fortified town of Hellevoetsluis and we sail on to the Haringvlietdam. After admiring this special example of Dutch hydraulic engineering craftsmanship, the ship turns in the port of Stellendam.
The route continues over the Haringvliet along the bank of Goeree-Overflakkee towards Middelharnis and the island of Tiengemeten. After we sail deep under the bridge of Numansdorp on the river Het Hollands, we pass the characteristic harbor of Willemstad towards the well-known Moerdijk bridge.
Just before this bridge we cross to the river Dordtsche Kil where we pass the Drechtsteden such as Zwijndrecht, Dordrecht, Papendrecht and Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht.
At the end of the river De Noord we see the beautiful Skyline of Rotterdam reappear and after passing the Brienenoord Bridge you can catch a glimpse of the famous Rotterdam football stadium “De Kuip”.
Finally, we sail under the Willemsbrug and the Erasmusbrug to Spido’s home port.
