Journey through 100 years of port development to FutureLand
No own transport and still want to experience the port? Or just relax and look around instead of at the road? Then join the FutureLand Experience! In more than 40 kilometers you will experience almost 100 years of port history, but also the port of tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. By comfortable touringcar you will pass by: Rotterdam Merwehaven, Waalhaven, Eemhaven, Botlek, Europoort and the Maasvlakte. Among other things, you will enjoy the view of the Erasmus Bridge, from Willemsplein and the most modern container terminals and largest ocean-going vessels of Maasvlakte 2. With whom will you experience this unforgettable adventure?
What does this day look like?
The day starts at 11:30 am at Port Pavilion on the Leuvehaven in the center of Rotterdam. Here, residents and visitors of the port city will find information and inspiration to enter the port and really get to know it. The eleven meter long photo-mascot with interactive projection gives you a taste of what is to come during this day trip. Then you will walk in ten minutes to Willemsplein at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge. From here you will travel by comfortable touringcar straight through the port to the FutureLand information center on Maasvlakte 2. On the way to the Maasvlakte, the port comes to life. An expert tells you about the port areas with different forms of industry. Do you have any questions? Feel free to ask them!
Then you arrive at the FutureLand interactive information center on the Maasvlakte. You can’t get any closer to Europe’s most modern port. Here you can see not only the most modern container terminals and largest sea-going vessels, but also the latest offshore developments. Moreover, you will find all the information you need about the development of Maasvlakte 2 and the port of Rotterdam easily and playfully.
Tour FutureLand Ferry
From FutureLand, take a one-hour boat tour and experience how everything is big, bigger or biggest! Encounter the very largest container ships and pass colossal quay walls. On board, an FutureLand expert will tell you everything you’ve always wanted to know about Europe’s most modern port and smartest port. After visiting the exhibition in FutureLand, the touringcar will depart for Rotterdam again at 3:30 pm.
